Ryze Hydrogen are delighted to be entering into partnership with leading glass manufacturers to explore the role hydrogen can play in reducing the industry’s carbon emissions.
Ryze Hydrogen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Glass Futures, a not-for-profit organisation that connects the global glass industry and academics to deliver research and development to decarbonise the sector.
Under the agreement, Ryze and Glass Futures will work together to test and validate hydrogen solutions for member businesses to support on their journey towards net zero.
Glass Futures is supported by the UK Government, numerous significant drinks brands, as well as universities in Cambridge, Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds.
In collaboration with the global glass industry, it is delivering the world’s first openly accessible, commercially available, multi-disciplinary glass melting facility, The Global Centre of Excellence in St Helens, with provision for research and development trials to decarbonise the global glass and foundation industries.
The 165,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility will be capable of producing up to 30 tonnes of glass per day in a purposefully designed research and development furnace. Members, researchers and industry leaders will collaborate and experiment with different energy sources, raw materials and technologies to demonstrate solutions leading to sustainable energy usage in the glass-making process.
Ryze supplies clean hydrogen to a range of operators from heavy-duty vehicles to industry and domestic energy users. The company is already involved in a number of high-profile schemes in the UK.
