Business Development Executive

Reporting to the Senior Management, the Business Development Executive will play a key role in managing business strategy and growth in the hydrogen sector. The successful candidate will assist the team in managing and growing customer relationships and supporting the development of commercial strategy.

Your ability to build global relationships in a collaborative manner, is essential to ensure our positive employee brand and future success.

The role – what you’ll be doing

Review:

  • Research, analyse and evaluate a variety of markets with developing needs to decarbonise and develop, launch and own business development activities.
  • Develop and own models and P&L’s to analyse growth opportunities.
  • Negotiate business contracts and commercial terms in an end-to-end hydrogen ecosystem (including sourcing hydrogen and sale).
  • Identify new markets, new customers, new partnerships within the developing hydrogen economy.
  • Actively managing existing customers, identifying opportunities to add value and increase revenue whilst managing profitability.

Execute:

  • Assist with the overall execution of commercial opportunities from early prospect stage development, through to execution.
  • Develop market facing presentations and adopt a ‘solution sale’ or consultative approach to business development.
  • Work with senior team members to manage risks and customer profitability.

Monitor:

  • Monitor ongoing financial and operational performance of key and prospective customers.
  • Identify and help implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in building and leveraging relationships with industry players.

Build the Team:

  • Opportunity to develop and shape an ambitious scale up hydrogen company.
  • Share knowledge by coordinating and entering information into knowledge management databases.
  • Attend and participate in team investment recommendation meetings.
  • Open to active mentoring and accelerated personal development from senior Business Development team colleagues.

The candidate – about you

Required:

  • Graduate with 2 – 5 years commercial, business development or consulting experience.
  • Ambitious with an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Strong research, modelling, analytical and valuation skills.
  • Professionalism and integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and business relationship skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and initiative.
  • Good commercial judgement.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Team player who enjoys a high-performance culture.
  • Willingness to travel and engage with customers and markets face to face.

Desired:

  • Experience in energy, renewable energy and cleantech desirable.
  • Appreciation of utilities businesses in UK markets.
  • Experience working in Industrial gas markets or within the chemical industry.
